The Broward League of Cities is dedicated to education through several committees and its Board of Directors that advocate for and monitor municipal, school board, and state issues and concerns. The League sponsors the scholarship program as an incentive for students dreaming of pursuing political careers. Supporting the educational endeavors of students who plan to seek a career in municipal government is aligned with the League’s belief that by working together on common goals, municipalities can be more successful in resolving the issues affecting the welfare of Broward County residents at the local, state and federal levels, particularly in challenging times.
The scholarships are made possible thanks to the generous personal contributions of elected officials and several League of Cities Associate Members. The League and its contributing Associate Members annually co-sponsor a minimum of four individual $1,000 scholarships for expenses associated with academic endeavors in public administration, political science, or government related fields.
“We look forward to providing a new crop of applicants with the same opportunity to follow their interest in studying municipal government and urge teachers, parents and friends to inform seniors about this great opportunity,”said Broward League of Cities President Debby Eisinger, chair of the Broward League of Cities Education Committee.
